BarkBus Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 May 2026
BarkBus is operations software for dog daycare and pet transport
businesses, operated by Cromwell Canines. This policy explains what
personal data the BarkBus mobile app and web app collect, why we
collect it, and what your rights are.
Who is the data controller?
Cromwell Canines, trading as BarkBus. Contact:
hello@cromwellcanines.com.
What we collect
- Contact information — the name, email
address, phone number, and postal address you (or your business
administrator) enter when an owner or staff profile is created.
Used to identify customers, contact you about bookings, and
arrange pickups.
- Dog records — names, breeds, ages,
vaccination records, vet contacts, behavioural notes, and photos
you upload. Used by daycare staff to identify and care for the
dogs in their pack.
- Photos — if you grant camera or photo
library permission, you can attach images to dog profiles and
homestay records. Photos are stored on our servers and shown only
to staff of the business you belong to.
- Push notification tokens — if you opt
in to notifications, Apple issues an opaque device token which we
store so we can send you booking reminders, schedule changes, and
pickup notifications. You can revoke this at any time in iOS
Settings → Notifications.
- Crash and diagnostic data — if the app
crashes or hits an unhandled error, we collect a crash report
(stack trace, OS version, app version, anonymised device model)
so we can fix bugs. No personal content is included.
- Authentication data — your email and a
hashed password (bcrypt), plus issued session tokens.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect location data. The app does not track your
device location and does not request the location permission.
- We do not process payments inside the app. Invoicing happens
outside the app and is handled by the business operating BarkBus.
- We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell data
to advertisers.
Where data is stored
BarkBus data is stored in a MySQL database hosted on Amazon Web
Services in the eu-west-2 (London) region. Photo uploads are stored
on the same server’s filesystem.
Who can see your data
Your data is visible only to staff of the business you are
associated with, and to Cromwell Canines engineering staff
(for support and debugging). BarkBus is currently
invitation-only and is not multi-tenant searchable.
How long we keep it
For as long as your business uses BarkBus, plus any retention
period required for tax, accounting, or legal obligations. You can
request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing
hello@cromwellcanines.com;
we will action it within 30 days unless we are legally required to
retain certain records.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete,
export, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise
any of these rights, email
hello@cromwellcanines.com.
Children
BarkBus is a business tool intended for use by adult staff
and pet owners. We do not knowingly collect data from children
under 13.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the
"last updated" date above. Material changes will also be
communicated in-app.
